Timothy Harper, whose 12 books include License to Steal and Moscow Madness, is an award-winning journalist and author who writes books and articles on many topics. His latest book is The Complete Idiot’s Guide to the U.S. Constitution.
Tim has just started a new publishing venture at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, serving as editor of the new academic imprint, the CUNY Journalism Press. He is a visiting professor at the CUNY J-School, teaching the 6-hour core course The Craft of Journalism, serving as the school’s writing coach and overseeing a popular workshop on longform nonfiction narrative.
He has also taught at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and NYU’s Carter Institute for Journalism. One of Tim’s classes recently won a national award for reporting on families. Check out the announcement here or, better yet, their work at HomelessWithHomework.com
He serves as an editorial consultant and writing coach for individual authors and for corporate clients such as Intel, Alcoa, Time Inc., Newsweek, Pfizer, Reuters, British Telecom, Brooklyn Brewery, Brown Publishing, Robert Marston Associates, the Steamboat Foundation and a number of Wall Street institutions.
Tim also advises on how to get books written and published: biography, autobiography, corporate history, tribute books, novels. As a ghostwriter, book doctor, and publishing consultant, Tim has helped hundreds of first-time authors get their books in print, and he can serve as a book coach to help you write and publish your novel or your personal, family or business history. If you need a writer or ghostwriter or book doctor, if you need a collaborator for a “with” or “as told to” book, if you have a story to tell, or if you’re looking for a speaker, please get in touch.
In the last few months he has helped clients and collaborators publish books with Random House, Oxford University Press, Jenkins Group and elsewhere. Recent projects with clients include books on international human rights, family law, the history of the Indus River Valley, a harrowing cross-country trip flying an antique biplane, linebacker leadership from a former Notre Dame player who went on to a marvelous business career, and the biography of a health-care tycoon who went on to become one of America’s leading philanthropists and art patrons.
